Day 272

Books were my pass to personal freedom. I learned to read at age three, and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi. – Oprah Winfrey

It’s 8: 07 PM on day 272 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, publish my Kid of the Week feature, feed myself scrambled eggs and ketchup for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck 😦 – go to my ten-year-old niece’s birthday party – it was as fun as I expected it to be but you know what being part of a family means you show up for each other 🙂 – watch TV, feed myself a chicken nugget sandwich for dinner and brush my teeth once more.

As you know I have recently become obsessed with reading other people’s blogs and since I believe that things are better when you share them I would like to take things opportunity to share with you my favorite blogs. Take a look:

Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at

If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing.

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!

Thank you, Nisha! I’m honored to be in such great company!

    • You’re very welcome thank you for sharing Max with us 🙂

      Yours truly,

PS. Don’t forget Sabrina I know that people who have siblings with special needs can often feel neglected although they would feel too guilty to say so. I think you write a post about what a great older/younger sister Sabrina is 🙂

  2. Hi Nisha!

Having noticed that some of my dashed expectations are about sushi…

Had some great sushi with Papa.

“This is the BEST homemade sushi I’ve ever had”.

(and soy sauce made it good).

It had cucumber, carrot and crabmeat: three of my favourite things.

Love reading about your niece’s party [2001 she was born!] and also Oprah’s book quote.

    • Thanks for the suggestion I shall have to try that 🙂

      Oprah’s book quote?

      Yours truly,

      • To clarify:

the one that said that she was reading at three and ever since she was liberated.

The thing which made the sushi special was the crabmeat.

A sandwich suggestion: what about sandwiches the size of your finger, usually covered with a topping or dip?

      • Thanks for the suggestion although I’m not sure it would work for Virginia’s Sandwhich Run because it would be time consuming to make different types of sandwiches

        Yours truly,

  3. Thank you very much for picking Jude’s blog :).
